History

The CEC began in 2004 as an effort to create a wind cooperative that could own and operate community-scale wind projects in Carleton County.   Community energy generation was not on the radar in 2004, and the initiative was stalled for a number of years.  In the meantime, we’ve built up expertise on solar thermal installations, and residential scale wind and solar electric applications.  In association with Falls Brook Centre, an envioronmentally-focused rural training centre, the CEC was granted a Co-op Development Initiative grant in 2009 and as of June 2010, we have a comprehensive business plan that broadens our services to include residential and commercial renewable energy consulting and installations, while still keeping our sights on a longterm community renewable energy project.
